BRIEF BIO
Having graduated in Zoology from Kerala University in 1987, I did my post graduation in Industrial Fisheries from Cochin University of Science and Technology. I took the Doctoral Degree from the same University in 1998 for the thesis entitled “Population characteristics, fishery and post larval distribution of Macrobrachium rosenbergii (de Man) and M.idella (Hilgendorf) of Vembanad lake”. The Vembanad lake is a tropical estuarine habitat, largest in west coast of India and has been identified as one Ramsar site in 2002. The lake system has undergone very serious alterations mainly by many anthropogenic interventions. M.rosenbergii is an important species which succumbed to the adverse impact of these human interventions. The thesis encompasses studies on the status of its fishery and exploitation in the lake and adjoining rivers and population dynamics of its stock. It also details the morphological and morphometrical characterization of male and female populations of M.rosenbergii

RESEARCH INTERESTS
Ecology of fin fish and shell fish larval forms in estuarine habitat, Fishery biology of deep sea fishes from continental slope, Fishery biology of estuarine and riverine fishes , Fishery of decapod crustaceans, Molecular taxonomy and phylogenetic studies of larval forms of decapods
