BRIEF BIO
Dr N R Nisha is a Marine Geologist specialized in Marine Micropaleontology and Paleoceanography. She completed her post graduation and Ph.D from Cochin University of Science and Technology. Having more than 20 years of teaching and research experience in the relevant filed. Currently engaged in palaeoceanographic and paleoclimatic studies of he Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. The major thrust areas of research are • Benthic foraminiferal proxy for the OMZ in the Arabian Sea, Preservation/ dissolution of Aragonite., Aragonite flux and carbonate budget, Aragonite cycle and its linkage with global climate, Developing new pteropod proxies for deciphering sea level history, Benthic foraminiferal distribution pattern of the Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. She was a recipient of L. Rama Rao research grant of the Geological Society of India in 1998. She was awarded with CSIR Research Associateship, DST Fast Track Young Scientist Scheme .and UGC Women Post Doctoral Fellowship.
