The Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has launched an innovative
academic initiative titled “Eminent Scholar in Campus” to enrich the University’s intellectual
and research environment.
Objective
The programme aims to invite eminent scholars, award-winning academicians, and thought
leaders from across India to the University campus to engage with faculty and students. The
initiative seeks to:
Enriching Academic Experience: To facilitate intellectual exchanges and pedagogical
excellence through interaction with leading academicians.
Promoting Research and Innovation: To encourage discussions that lead to collaborative
research opportunities and publishing opportunities.
Networking Opportunities: To build long-term associations with renowned scholar sand
institutions.
Enhance Institutional Reputation: To project CUSAT as a Centre of academic excellence
and research.
Proposed Activities
The invited scholars participate in a variety of academic engagements, such as:
1. Guest lectures and interactive talks.
2. Workshops and seminars focused on advanced topics.
3. Discussions on research collaboration and institutional partnerships.
Criteria for Inviting Scholars
Indian Academicians who have won prestigious international/national awards like
Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize/India Science award or Top policy makers/ thought
leaders in Higher Education Sector at National Level who have made recognized
contributions in their respective fields.
Mode of Operation
University departments are encouraged to submit proposals detailing the itinerary and
objectives of the visit.
• The departments are encouraged to prepare specific proposals and submit
the same to the University. The proposal shall contain detailed itinerary and
schedule of the invited scholar.
• The proposal shall be evaluated by an expert committee under the
coordination of IQAC.
• The selected proposals will be eligible for funding support from the university.
• The funding support is limited to Rs. 50000/-per programme.
• The financial support can be utilized for the honorarium and travel and
accommodation expenses of the scholar.
• Expenses over and above Rs. 50000 shall be met by the department.
